The Level 6 Chartered Legal Executive Apprenticeship supports developing legal professionals in gaining the practical capability and specialist insight needed for progression in the legal sector. This programme offers a structured route toward Chartered status, blending real workplace experience with advanced study aligned to your chosen practice area.
During the apprenticeship, you will select a specialist pathway that matches your career goals, choosing from Civil Litigation, Criminal Litigation, Family, Immigration, Conveyancing, Employment, Business, or Probate.

Programme Curriculum
Required Modules for Apprentices:
Stage 1 Core Units
During stage 1 of this course, learners without a law degree are required to complete these mandatory modules to build a solid understanding of legal principles and skills essential for legal practice.
- Introduction to Law and Legal Practice: Overview of the legal system, including sources of law, court structures, and an introduction to legal research methods.
- Introduction to Public Law: Understanding the role of public law in governing relations between individuals and the state, including constitutional and administrative law.
- Introduction to Human Rights: A study of the key human rights principles and their application in domestic and international law.
- Foundation Skills for the Legal Professional: Development of key skills such as writing, and analysis, along with professional conduct and ethical standards.
For learners who already hold a law degree, these core units are exempt, as the required legal knowledge has already been covered as part of your previous study.
Stage 2 Core Units
At this stage apprentices will develop their understanding and begin to explore specialised areas of legal practice before choosing their preferred specialism.
- Dispute Resolution Legal Knowledge & Practice: Exploration of methods of resolving legal disputes, including litigation, mediation, and arbitration.
- Conveyancing Legal Knowledge & Practice: An overview of the legal processes involved in property transactions, including the legal responsibilities of conveyancers.
- Wills and Probate Legal Knowledge & Practice: A study of the laws surrounding the creation of wills, estate administration, and the probate process.
- Advanced Skills for the Legal Professional: Focused training on advanced legal skills such as legal research, client interviewing, and case management
Apprentices who already hold a law degree will be exempt from Part 1 of these core modules, as this covers foundational legal knowledge. They will begin at Part 2, which focuses on legal practice.

Students will then choose one of the specialisations, which will provide in-depth knowledge and practical application in a specific area of legal practice:
